Video - Various styles of sprint canoe technique

Ciao Montreal DragonFlyers!

Melissa wants us to check-out this youtube video on various styles of sprint canoe technique.

Look carefully at their techniques…  we have lots to work on!  There’s no splashing…  snappy exist…  in synch…  no choochoo train effect…  etc…  Just remember everything that Melissa told us during practice and you that they do apply it.

See-you at practice!

 Nancy

Some interesting things in the video to observe certainly. I’ll have to see if I can’t incorporate them.

However, I do want to point out that team synchronization is much easier when there’s typically only one person in the team. Even when there’s two, the pacer doesn’t need to synchronize with a neighbour!

Furthermore, look at their legs. They have the advantage of a much greater range of motion to help them along. One interesting question is how should our legs be placed? According to the Shanghai team coaching, it should be with the paddling side leg extended and the other leg bent in a sort of runner’s stretch. I’m not sure, but I think it is helping me, actually.
